The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) is conducting cleanup operations in Bocas del Toro province due to landslides. These actions are a response to landslides caused by heavy rainfall recorded over the last 24 hours on the Chiriquí Grande – Gualaca road. Operations are concentrated in the area known as Willie Mazu. Specialized maintenance personnel and equipment from the MOP's Regional Directorate in Bocas del Toro province are carrying out cleaning and removal of material composed of mud, stones, and branches from the roadway. This collaboration aims to ensure the safety of both operational personnel and pedestrians while heavy machinery is operating in the affected area. The Ministry requests that all drivers traveling through this point strictly respect the temporary signage and follow the instructions of the field staff. The work on-site includes clearing accumulated material, deep cleaning of the drainage ditches, and a technical verification of the road's condition. The primary objective of these tasks is to restore vehicle flow safely and mitigate the risk of accidents for users of this important artery road. Interinstitutional support and safety are maintained throughout the operation, with the preventive presence of units from the Chiriquí Grande Fire Department.
